Calvary Kids
Calvary Kids is our preschool environment for children newborn through 5 year olds not in kindergarten. Our goal is to teach every child that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.
Nursery I infant through 11 months
Nursery II 1 year olds
We know that leaving your children for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our infant/toddler nurseries have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies/toddlers and their training to care for all of the needs of your child. We hope that the following information will help you and your baby/toddler have a great experience on Sunday morning.
• Please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will soothe your child through the morning.
• Label all items that belong to your baby
• Please inform the volunteer at the classroom door of your baby’s eating and napping schedule and any other information that will make this a good stay.
To ensure that your baby/toddler receives the best care, we adhere to a one volunteer to every three-baby ratio in our infant rooms and a one volunteer to every four toddlers in the toddler nursery.
We promote your children from these classrooms on the Sunday following their first or second birthday.
TWO – FIVE YEAR OLDS (not in kindergarten)
These are fun and active stages in your child’s life. We are excited to have them in class and look forward to teaching them truths from God’s Word.
Our teaching plan begins at age two. All activities are age-appropriate with plenty of flexibility for the normal needs of each age group.
While we seek to teach your children about God, we know that no one has more influence on their lives than you. We want to partner with you to help them learn about their Heavenly Father.
Small Talk is our monthly preschool communication piece for parents. This resource provides creative ideas that will help you take advantage of teachable moments in your home and reinforce what was taught on Sunday mornings. On a regular basis, you will also receive a Small Talk Card to take home from class. This will tell you what your children learned that day, including the key truth and bottom line for the month. It will provide you with creative ideas to help them keep learning all week. This resource will help you take advantage of teachable moments in your home and reinforce what was taught on Sunday morning. Before your children leave Calvary Kids and move on to our elementary Faith Lab, we want them to know: GOD LOVES ME – GOD MADE ME – JESUS WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND FOREVER
Every month we focus on one of these basic truths. Each week your children will learn a Bible story and participate in fun, creative activities that teach the one key truth for the month.
Calvary Kids Sunday morning experience is divided into several segments: As soon as they walk in the door, they participate in a MAKE IT FUN activity that is designed to grab their attention.
They will then hear a creative presentation of the Bible lesson and participate in worship where they will sing and dance and interact with their leaders.
To ensure that our classrooms are safe and to create the best possible learning environments, we adhere to a ratio of one volunteer for every four to five children.
Each week we provide a snack in class. Snack is usually cheerios, goldfish or animal cookies. If we are serving something else that goes with the lesson, you will find a note posted on the door outside of your child’s classroom informing you of the new food item. If your child has any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring an appropriate snack for them.
Be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes. If your child is potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher. We ask that they wear a pair of pull ups to the classroom. Volunteers are not allowed in the restrooms alone with children. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand washing afterwards inside the classroom.
Please do not bring extra toys to class since it is hard to distinguish what belongs to whom. This can cause children unnecessary frustration when they are asked to share something that was brought from home.
Your children will be promoted to the next classroom on the Sunday after their second or third birthday. For four and five year olds not in kindergarten, promotion will take place to Faith Lab when the school year starts and they enter kindergarten.
Our curriculum for two through five year olds is ‘My First Look’ from North Point Community Church.
We hope this information has been helpful and that your child’s Sunday is GREAT! If you have any further questions, please contact us here.
