Penny is our Executive Director overseeing the business administration of the church such as Finance, Human Resources, and Operations.
From Penny: "I grew up in Virginia, a small town girl with big town dreams. I was the first in my family to go to college (BS in Organizational Development) and couldn’t move away from the small town fast enough. I became a “corporate success” and then I wanted out of the Rat Race. I left Corporate America to follow my dreams of being my own boss. I followed Zig Zigler’s advice and was “getting what I wanted helping other people get what they wanted.” Skincare Specialist / Makeup Artist / Dream Coach. I’ve even got a Samurai sword for graduating Samurai Camp (ask me sometime).
Growing up, my family talked about God, but we didn’t attend church and I only knew the idea of God … so my dreams did not include working in a church! Only God knows the plans He has for us. Looking back I see how God was equipping me with the skills and the heart I’d need to oversee the business administration and human resources of Calvary Church.
My first gig here was stuffing bulletins (1 year )… then “helping out” with staff stuff (10 years) … then “part-time staff” (2 years) … and now full time staff for several years. Always in denial … after all, I own my own business!
My passion is making a positive influence in the lives of others. So whether you call me “Executive Director”, or “Glam Girl”, or “the drummer’s wife” … you’ll always find me juggling multiple things. It’s just the way I’m wired. My downtime includes anything to do with my fur babies … 2 wild cats (bengals), 1 fast dog (Italian greyhound) and nothing makes me smile bigger than Jerry (aka the drummer) walking into a room. I’ve had him for multiple decades … and he’s a keeper."
